By 2030, the Volkswagen Group will build 6 new battery plants in Europe. Volkswagen plans to ensure an annual production capacity of 240GWh.

In 2025, GigaFactory will be put into production in Salzgitter, Germany, to provide new integrated batteries with an annual production capacity of 40GWh.
Furthermore, the battery will be changed from the existing pouch type to a prismatic type, and 80% of the brand electric vehicles under the Volkswagen Group will be introduced by 2030. Through this measure, by 2030, the cost of battery systems will also fall below 100 euros per kilowatt-hour.
In addition, Porsche will start producing high-performance batteries. Porsche will sign a cooperation agreement with the Selfoss Group, which holds 83.75% of its shares, and establish a 100MWh battery factory in Tübingen, Germany in 2024. It will be installed on special vehicles, such as racing cars.
